Ponentia Logistics is developing an innovative rail terminal at the Intermodal Logistics Platform of La Litera. The project seeks to efficiently and sustainably combine rail and road transportation.
This project will be carried out on an area of 17 hectares in the Ebro Valley region, next to the A-22 highway. The promotion of intermodality will strengthen the connection with other regions and markets, both at European and Asian level, through the Silk Road.
A pioneering intermodality project
Intermodality refers to the use of two or more transportation nodes in a supply chain. The new rail terminal will allow semi-trailers to be loaded onto trains, combining the flexibility of road transport with the efficiency and sustainability of rail transport.
The development of intermodal transport follows the guidelines of the European Green Pact, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
the promotion of sustainable modes of transport and the decarbonisation of fuels.
Strategic location and connectivity
The railway terminal will be located on the former N-240, with direct access to the A-22 highway, just three kilometers from the border with Catalonia and 32.5 km from Lleida. Located on the Zaragoza-Barcelona line, this location will allow the dispatch of convoys to the Mediterranean Corridor and the center and north of the Peninsula, providing a direct connection to the European rail network.
This state-of-the-art logistics-industrial zone will include spaces for the generation of clean energy, with the objective of being an emission-neutral infrastructure. In addition to transforming the mode of transportation from road to rail, this strategy promotes sustainability and reduces the carbon footprint.
