TERMINAL

23-ES-TG-LA MELUSA is an EU project that is part of the overall project of 140 hectares of the Logistics Platform 'LA MELUSA-TAMARITE', declared Project of General Interest (PIGA) by the Government of Aragon in July 2022.

The objective of this project is to improve the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) through the construction of a new multimodal railway terminal, within the Global Logistics and Industrial Platform "LA MELUSA-TAMARITE", in the municipality of Tamarite de Litera (Huesca, Spain), located on the TEN-T Integral Network and in proximity to the Mediterranean backbone corridor. This new international railway terminal will be connected to the Spanish railway network.

With a surface area of approximately 17 hectares, the terminal will allow the loading and dispatch of goods at international level, mainly related to the agri-food production sector, of great importance in the area, contributing to the EU's objective of reducing its dependence on raw materials from abroad and promoting a modal shift from road to rail.

The project will carry out activities related to the development of the new intermodal railway terminal "PONENTIA - LA MELUSA".

  • Construction of a 750 m long railway siding for loading and dispatching trains on the 200 Madrid Chamartín-Barcelona France line in the vicinity of Tamarite-Altorricón station (province of Huesca).
  • Materialisation of a loading point for the international transport of products related to the agri-food sector, which has great potential in the area.
  • Bidirectional connections on the line, seeking maximum operational efficiency, so that trains can be received and dispatched both to Barcelona/Mediterranean/France via Port-Bou and to Algeciras/Madrid/Irun, with a forecast of dispatching 20 trains per day.
