THE RAILWAY
TERMINAL

23-ES-TG-LA MELUSA is an EU project that is part of the overall project of 140 hectares of the ‘LA MELUSA-TAMARITE’ Logistics Platform, declared as a Project of General Interest (PIGA) by the Government of Aragon in July 2022.

The objective of this project is to improve the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) Network through the construction of a new multimodal railway terminal, within the «LA MELUSA-TAMARITE» Global Logistics and Industrial Platform, in the municipality of Tamarite de Litera (Huesca, Spain), located on the comprehensive TEN-T Network and in proximity to the Mediterranean core network corridor. This new railway terminal with an international vocation will be connected with the Spanish railway network.

With an approximate area of 17 hectares, the terminal will allow the loading and shipment of goods internationally, mainly related to the agri-food production sector, which is very important in the area, contributing to the EU’s objective of reducing its dependence on raw materials from abroad and promoting a modal shift from road to rail.

The project will develop the activities corresponding to the development of the new intermodal railway terminal «PONENTIA – LA MELUSA».

  • Construction of a railway siding for the loading and dispatch of 750 m long trains on line 200 Madrid Chamartín-Barcelona France Station near Tamarite-Altorricón station (province of Huesca).
  • Materialization of a loading point for the international transport of products related to the agrifood sector, which has great potential in the area.
  • Bidirectional connections on the line, seeking maximum operational efficiency, so that trains can be received and dispatched both to Barcelona/Mediterranean/France via Port-Bou, and to Algeciras/Madrid/Irún, with a forecast of 20 trains dispatched per day.
